The Gana Forum president, Kamal Hossain, and the Nagarik Oikya convener, Mahmudur Rahman Manna, met the Bangladesh Nationalist Party chairperson, Khaleda Zia, at her Gulshan office on Friday evening to console her at her youngest son Arafat Rahman’s death.
Emerging from Khaleda’s Gulshan office, Kamal told reporters that they went to express condolence and put their signatures in the condolence book for Arafat.
He said that they met Khaleda but no political discussion was held.
Khaleda has been staying at her office since January 3.
Asked whether they would take any initiative to resolve the present political crisis, Kamal said that Gana Forum along with some other parties was carrying out efforts to get rid of the political crisis.
He said that people wanted a healthy, peaceful and democratic atmosphere in the country.
Gana Forum general secretary Mostafa Mohshin Montu among others accompanied Kamal.
