700 Rangpur JP leaders, activists quit en masse

Leaders and activists of Rangpur district committee of Jatiya Party (Ershad) resign en-masse on Sunday at Rangpur Town Hall.

Around 700 leaders and activists of Rangpur district committee of Jatiya Party (Ershad) resigned en-masse on Sunday for extending party support to its Presidium Member Mosiur Rahman Ranga to contest the Rangpur City Corporation election.

AKM Abdur Rauf Manik, organising secretary of JP central committee, also announced forming of a new party named ‘Trinamool Jatiya Party’ after submitting resignation letter, reports our Rangpur correspondent.

Manik made the announcement at a press conference at Rangpur Town Hall in the city.

Earlier at a press conference on November 6, Manik, also former municipality mayor, threatened to quit the party en-masse if nomination of Ranga was not withdrawn by Saturday after JP extended its support to Ranga for contesting the RCC polls set for December 20.

Ranga was appointed as the party’s convener of Rangpur city unit.
