Arms used in Ekram murder recovered, 2 held

RAB has detained Sajib, with a pistol, five rounds of bullet, two magazines, says Feni RAB 7 company commander major

Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) and police have recovered two foreign pistols, nine rounds of bullet and two magazines in separate drives on Tuesday which were used in the killing of Fulgazi upazila chairman Ekramul Haque.

The law enforcers also detained two suspected persons involved in the killing.

The detainees are Abdur Rob, Kazirbag union Awami League general secretary and Sajib, who is a killer by profession.

Feni RAB 7 Company Commander Major Mohiuddin said: “RAB has detained Sajib, assistant of Jahid, with a pistol, five rounds of bullet and two magazines from Birnich area of the sadar during a raid early Tuesday. He admitted that Jahid told him to keep the arms used in the Ekram murder.”

Feni model police station Officer-in-Charge Abul Kalam Azad said: “Upon receiving information from Jahid, police raided Jihad Chowdhury’s office and recovered another pistol from a television box early Tuesday.

We also arrested Abdur Rob for his alleged involvement in the murder.”

Meanwhile, the businessmen of Fulgazi area formed a human chain on Tuesday morning demanding the withdrawal of Feni Sub-Inspector and sadar Officer-in-Charge for their failure in the murder case.
