Speakers lament ‘Rab involvement’ in N’ganj 7 murders

Accusing Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) of being involved in the sensational seven murders in the district, speakers at a civic rally here on Tuesday lamented that the elite force is now killing people although its duty is to save public life.

‘Amra Narayanganjbasi’, a local body, organised the rally at the convention centre of Narayanganj Club Ltd at noon.

Speaking at the rally, Nagorik Oikya convener Mahmudur Rahman Manna criticised BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia for her demand for abolishing the Rab, posing a question, “Did Khaleda ever say they (BNP-led administration) made a mistake by forming Rab?”

Manna alleged that the elite force began carrying out extrajudicial killings since its inception.

Dhaka University teacher Prof CR Abrar urged all to initiate a united movement to dismantle the dens of criminals on the soil of Narayanganj.

Presidium member of Amra Narayanganjbasi Advocate Mahbubur Rahman Ismail vowed to continue the movement until perpetrators of the seven murders are brought to justice.

Freedom fighter and president of the organisation Nuruddin presided over the rally.
