The US based research centre unveiled the research paper on 19 March.
The nonpartisan fact tank, which was established in 2004, found that around 62 percent Bangladeshi internet users find jobs related information through internet. The internet use ratio is more than any neighbour countries.
“In certain countries, these professional and commercial online activities are more common. For example, 62% of internet users in Bangladesh and 55% in India say they have used the internet to look for or apply for a job,” the research centre stated in their study paper titled ‘Internet Seen as Positive Influence on Education but Negative on Morality in Emerging and Developing Nations’.
The research paper added that about 11 percent of Bangladeshis has accesses to internet while India has 20% and Pakistan has 8%.
“These include Indonesia, where only 24% of the population has access to the internet, India (20%), Bangladesh (11%) and Pakistan (8%). Combined, these countries account for approximately a quarter of the world’s population,” the study said.
The research centre said internet access considerably vary among the emerging and developing countries ‘two-thirds or more in Chile (76%), Russia (73%) and Venezuela (67%) have access to the internet, as do sixin-ten or more in Poland, China, Lebanon and Argentina’.
‘Yet less than half in Vietnam (43%) and the Philippines (42%) have internet access,’ the research centre added.
