500 IT experts sit for ITEE to get int’l recognition

As many as 500 local IT professionals and students on April 27 sat for second International Standardised Information Technology Engineers Examination (ITEE) held in Dhaka and Rajshahi, to get a global recognition of their IT skills, says a press release.
The examination was held at Curzon Hall, University of Dhaka (DU), Computer Science and Engineering Department, BUET and Rajshahi University simultaneously.
Recognised by 12 Asian countries, the ITEE is a national standardized examination of Japan for IT professionals where five to six lakh IT students and IT professionals attend every year. Bangladesh IT engineers Examination Centre (BD-ITEC) under Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology Ministry introduced the examination in the country under a project titled Capacity Building on ITEE Management with the help of Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).
ICT Secretary N I Khan, Project Director of Capacity Building on ITEE Management Dr. Sk. Amzad Hossain, IPA Chief Adviser Sakaguchi and Chief Advisor of JICA- ITEE Project Hideo Hoya observed and monitored the examination.
One of the objectives of introducing ITEE in the country is to give international branding to Bangladesh IT professionals. The certificate of ITEE examination will help the local Bangladeshi IT professionals to get international jobs around the globe.

Bangladesh obtains second place in Asia
Bangladesh has already showed its high IT talent by obtaining second place among seven Asian countries in its maiden ITEE examination, held in Dhaka last year. Number of passers of the 1st ITEE in Bangladesh is 25 with passing ratio of 15.8 per cent that is second high next to Vietnamese among six IT Professionals Examination Council (ITPEC) member countries (Malaysia, Mongolia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Thailand and Vietnam) which promotes common ITEE in Asian region.
