3 deceased sued over Gazipur boiler blast

Three deceased and 8-10 more unidentified people have been made accused in the case filed in connection with a boiler blast at a readymade garment (RMG) factory in Gazipur on Monday evening that claimed 13 lives.

Abdus Salam, Ershad Hossain and Monsurul Haque — all of whom were the factory’s boiler operators who died on the spot — are named as accused in the case, according to the case statement.

Chakrawabti police camp’s assistant deputy-inspector Abdur Rashid filed the case with Joydebpur police station on Tuesday night.

According to the statement, the accused continued operation of boiler despite being informed about its risk factors.

Joydebpur police station officer-in-charge told Prothom Alo that those whose names were mentioned in the case were the main culprits as they operated the factory with expired boiler.

Thirteen people have so far been died of the incident and dozens were burnt when a boiler exploded at the RMG factory Kashimpur area on Monday evening.

Three people are still missing.
