3 Bangladeshis held in Libya for human trafficking

Three Bangladeshi nationals have been held in Libya for alleged involvement in human trafficking and money embezzlement. The traffickers were identified as Monir Bhandari, Imran and Tajul Islam. Official of Bangladesh embassy in Tripoli confirmed the incident. He said that the trio was arrested three months ago although the Libyan police informed them recently. According to the Facebook post by Bangladesh Embassy in Libya, the traffickers have been active since the last two or three years and they used to work for some recruiting agents based in Bangladesh. The post reads that the trio used to abduct the Bangladeshis and asked for ransom to the families. They will be tried under the judiciary system of Libya. Since June last year, Bangladesh government officially banned sending of its nationals to Libya on security ground. Source: Ittefaq
