Moudud wants Shahara to resign

Dhaka, Feb 11 ( — BNP leader Moudud Ahmed on Saturday demanded that home minister Shahara Khatun step down saying she has no moral right to hang on to the office after the murder of the journalist couple.

“Law and order situation is worsening every day due to the killings carried out by criminals backed by this government. Deep last night a journalist couple were murdered at West Rajabazar in the capital,” the party’s standing committee member said.

“So we are demanding that the home minister steps down as she has no ethical ground to remain in the post,” the former law minister added.

ATN Bangla senior reporter Meherun Nahar Runi and husband Maasranga Television news editor Golam Mustofa Sarowar, better known as Sagor Sarowar, were found murdered on Saturday morning at their rented flat at west Rajabazar in the capital.

“Law and order has deteriorated massively over the last three years. The home minister has failed to control the situation. We ask her, ‘please resign’. The people of the country will praise you.”
