2 RU teachers suspended for harassing female students

RU

Rajshahi University (RU) authorities have suspended two university teachers on charge of sexually harassing some female students.

Those suspended are Shaon Uddin, a teacher of RU Management Department, and Sarowar Hossain, a trainer of Teacher-Student Cultural Centre (TSCC) of the university.

The decision came at the 450th Syndicate meeting of the university held with Vice-chancellor Prof Muhammad Mizanuddin in the chair on Tuesday night.

University sources said some female students of the Management Department lodged a complaint with Anti-sexual Harassment Cell of the university against Shaon in September last year of harassing them.

Later, the cell, in its investigation, found the allegation brought against Shaon to be true and recommended his suspension as per the university’s anti-harassment policy formulated in 2012.

On the basis of the cell’s recommendation, RU Syndicate came up with the suspension order against Shaon.

Sarowar Hossain was also suspended for similar charge.

  1. Such teachers are a disgrace to the institutions they serve in, and the country at large.

The newspapers should print their photos, so that people would know who they are….and it would also act as a warning lesson for all other teachers as well.
