Police arrested two local BNP leaders from Alampur Bazar area in Sadar upazila of Sirajganj on Sunday on charge of their involvement in violence during hartal.
The arrestees are Bulbul Khan, 33, joint secretary of the Bagbati union unit of BNP, and Aminul Islam, 38, organising secretary of the same unit.
Both are residents of Ichhamati village of the union.
Rafiqul Islam Khan, officer-in-charge of Sadar thana, said acting on a tip-off, police arrested the duo from Alampur Bazar on Sunday morning.
Bulbul and Aminul were involved in the attack on police and torching of a motorcycle in Bohuli and Alampur Bazar during hartal enforced by the BNP-led 18-party alliance on March 18 ,19, said the OC.
