10 BCL men suspended from DU

Dhaka University authorities have suspended 10 BCL activists of Surya Sen Hall unit over Monday’s attacks on journalists on the campus centring a football match.

Two others have been ordered to respond to show cause notices.

Mizan, a second year student of Political Science department, Sharif, fourth year student of History   department, Abdul Hamid of Philosophy, Bidyut, first year student of Management, Zakir and Sohag of Finance, were suspended for one year.

Mehdi, second year student of International Relations  department, Rahat of Sociology department,  Pervez and Nobel  of Sanskrit were suspended for six months.

Besides, Khokan and Mokhles were served show cause notices in this connection.

Earlier, BCL suspended Surya Sen Hall Committee and expelled 12 activists from the organisation following the Monday incident.

Saddam Hussein, general secretary of Dhaka University Journalists’ Association filed a case with Shahbagh police station.

Police detained three suspects among who had taken part in the armed attacks on the journalists.
